Kinotopic |
Kinotopic is a easy to use iPhone app that allows you to capture kinos, or cinemagraphs, and share them online. |
There haven’t been any updates in a while and I’m sorry. It was a combination of a lot of work and then a lot of patience (beta testing and waiting for approval).
It’s finally out, Kinotopic V2 has been approved and released.
What’s new?
The most visible change is the redesign. Our previous version was design worked as an $1 utility that turned into something else. We went back to the drawing board and created a cleaner, more traditional design that puts the focus on kinos.
But the biggest change is in the create kinos flow. We realized that people created awesome kinos by animating whole pictures (basically uploading a really short video with no sound). They were artsy, fun, loveable, same as with cinemagraphs.
So we decided to focus on a capturing moments than the actual very specific job of creating a cinemagraph. The new create flow allows you to take a video and upload it in two steps.
On the first step you can easily add filters and create cinemagraphs.

We haven’t forgotten about cinemagraphs
We’ve implemented a new stabilizer. For what is was designed for, stabilizing shaky video, it does a great job. You’ll see that it moves the videos more than just up, down, left, right, it can now detect if you turned the phone a little while taking the video.
Also in the new create flow we’ve implemented all the cinemagraph tools in one page, so you don’t have to keep opening the popup and closing as you create the cinemagraph.
The last thing we added was a ‘clear everything’ button during the cinemagraph creation process. If you can’t figure out what to do with the video just tap that button and it’s going to restore the status to how it was before trying to create a cinemagraph.

Other stuff
We’ve added the traditional by now news feed. We’e also added a new tab called Classics where you can (re)discover old awesome kinos.
In conclusion
You should download the new Kinotopic V2. It’s awesome.
